This handsome creature was photographed by FLAAR Mesoamerica plant and animal scout Senaida Ba in her home in Chipemech, Alta Verapaz, Guatemala.
This is an insect, Fulgora laternaria, local name in Spanish is Machaca. Also called alligator bug or peanut-headed lanternfly!
It's creatures like this that make me inspired to continue studies of diverse kinds of insects in Guatemala, Central America.
